Millimeter wave (mmWave) is a special type of radar technology that uses short wavelength electromagnetic waves. The electromagnetic wave signal transmitted by the radar system is blocked by objects on its transmission path and then reflected. By capturing the reflected signal, the radar system can determine the distance, speed, and angle of the object.

Millimeter wave (mmWave) is a special type of radar technology that uses short wavelength electromagnetic waves. The electromagnetic wave signal transmitted by the radar system is blocked by objects on its transmission path and then reflected. By capturing the reflected signal, the radar system can determine the distance, speed and angle of the object

The millimeter-wave radar may transmit a signal having a wavelength on the order of millimeters. In the electromagnetic spectrum, this wavelength is considered a short wavelength, which is also one of the advantages of this technology. Admittedly, the size of the system components (such as antennas) required to process millimeter wave signals is indeed small. Another advantage of short wavelengths is high accuracy. Millimeter-wave systems operating at 76-81GHz (corresponding to a wavelength of about 4mm) will be able to detect movements as small as a few tenths of a millimeter.
